Ipswich accepts the following single stream materials in its curbside program.
Remember, items placed in your container should be loose, clean, and dry.

Drop-Off

Cardboard

Boxes too big for curbside recycling can be placed in the cardboard container. Empty and flatten boxes before heading to transfer station.

Bulky Rigid Plastics

Household items such as laundry baskets, buckets, plastic playhouses and toys (batteries removed), coolers, dish strainers, milk crates, shelving units, totes, plastic hangers, trash barrels, water jugs, lawn furniture, coolers, recycling bins, etc. This type of plastic cannot be recycled curbside. NO PVC piping, NO plastic tubing, NO hoses, NO vinyl toys (tents, inflatables), NO composite decking, NO tarps, NO gutters

Scrap Metal

We accept items that are at least 60% metal. Household items: Toasters, water heaters, refrigerators, washers, dryers, trash compactors, stoves, space heaters, humidifiers, vacuum cleaners, coffee makers, metal and cast-iron sinks, AC units, boilers, metal bed frames, lamps, EMPTY fire extinguishers, silverware, pots, pans, exercise equipment Outside: Lawn mowers, tools, grills, bikes, metal swing sets, chain-link fence, EMPTY propane tanks with tops OFF, metal window frames, (NO vinyl siding) Automotive: Car batteries, metal auto parts, tires WITH RIMS only Large Items: Cars or construction equipment can be removed by special arrangement with the DPW.

Bring clean wrap (folded or rolled) from March 1 to August 31.

Books

Light Bulbs

We accept fluorescent and compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) only. Place in the lights shed. The Mercury in these items is reclaimed and reused.

Textiles

Yard Waste

Leaves, brush and branches SMALLER THAN 4 inches in diameter and 4 feet long. NO logs, rocks, or stumps.

Holiday Lights

Remove decorations and broken bulbs and put the strands in the lights shed.
